The Ocean City Film Festival at Art X 2022
Saturday August 20th

1 pm: "Hurricane 6" directed by Fiona O'Brien. 27 minutes.

Hurricane 6, a short dance film, tells the story of the famed Storm of 1933 that created Ocean City's inlet. By using eco-feminist concepts, this research-based work centers around the connection between time, place, natural landscapes, and women's experiences. Hurricane 6 incorporates true stories that encapsulate how this historical event impacted the economy and society of Ocean City today, commenting on the diverse landscapes between Assateague and Ocean City, all while highlighting the importance of women entrepreneurs and generational traditions in the seaside town. Screening includes a behind-the-scenes documentary.

2 pm: "Boat House" directed by Charlie Knott. 18 minutes.

Floating at sea on a suburban house with his mother, Christy (Christina Harris), a teenage boy, Pete (Ethan Holler), struggles with writing to his father (Paul Diem) in an attempt to reconnect.

3 pm: Ocean City Film Challenge 2022

This screening will feature the previous 4 winners of the annual Ocean City Film Challenge prior to this year's competing films. The 2022 Ocean City Film Challenge features new and returning filmmakers competing to win title, swag, and immortalization in the Ocean City Film Festival catalog. Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with attending filmmakers and the award announcement for this year's competitors.

"Kaw-Liga" by Trevor Taylor. A man laments the lost history of Native Americans...and a stranger happens upon him. 2018 Ocean City Film Challenge Winner.

"Time Flies" by Campos Media. Young beach-goers fantasize about one day flying in the Ocean City Air Show. 2019 OCFC Winner.

"Escape 2020" Derek Silver. Stricken by anxiety, depression, and paranoia, a couple attempts to escape 2020, if only momentarily by taking a day trip to the beach. 2020 OCFC Winner.

"Besties" by Joe Weiner. Two friends struggle to conceive the quintessential Ocean City film project. 2021 OCFC Winner.
